Bathroom Remodeling in Makakilo
Makakilo is five minutes from our showroom and about a thousand feet above it. That closeness matters more than it sounds, because hillside jobs need more site visits than flat ones, and we are close enough to make them. The work itself is our bathroom remodeling service.

Getting materials up the hill is part of the job
Makakilo streets climb, bend and narrow, and a lot of the driveways are steep. It affects a bathroom remodel in ways nobody mentions until the day of delivery.
Where the truck can park. Whether a full countertop slab can be carried up to the door without damage. Whether debris removal needs a smaller vehicle. Whether the crew is walking materials the last stretch, which takes time somebody has to pay for.
We look at access on the estimate visit, not on the morning of installation. It is one of the reasons quotes for the same Makakilo bathroom vary — some contractors price the bathroom and discover the driveway later.
Lower Makakilo and upper Makakilo are different jobs
The hillside developed over decades, and where you sit on it tells us a lot before we arrive.
The older homes lower down can have the things older Hawaii homes have — single-wall construction with no stud cavity behind the boards, original plumbing, and a layout built around fixtures that have not moved since. Those jobs need proper investigation before anyone quotes a number, and a tub-to-shower conversion in one of them is rarely as simple as it looks.
Higher up, the newer tracts are closer to the Kapolei story: sound plumbing behind the wall, builder-grade finishes worth upgrading, and a scope that usually stays cosmetic and permit-exempt.
We do not assume which you have. We look.
The elevation is quietly on your side
Makakilo catches the breeze and runs cooler than the plain below, and it sits away from the salt that eats hardware closer to the water.
That means finishes and fittings tend to last better up here than in coastal Ewa Beach, and there is less of the persistent damp that punishes Windward bathrooms. Ventilation still matters, because a bathroom generates its own humidity whatever the weather outside is doing, but you are starting from an easier position than most of the island. Compare finishes at our Kapolei showroom or look through bathroom vanities and tile first.
Your association may want paperwork
Several Makakilo neighbourhoods have associations, and requirements differ between them.
Interior work usually does not need design approval, but some associations ask to see contractor licensing and a certificate of insurance before work starts. We can provide both. Worth checking yours before materials are ordered.
What a bathroom remodel costs in Makakilo
Small bathrooms generally run $18,000 to $25,000. Larger bathrooms run $25,000 to $40,000.
Those are full remodels including materials and labour — not a starting price with the fittings left out.
The spread comes down to four things: whether the plumbing moves, what is actually behind the wall once it is open, whether the job needs a permit, and the finishes you choose.
Access affects labour. Steep driveways and narrow streets add time to delivery and debris removal, and that shows up in the estimate.
One thing currently pushing material costs up island-wide: a 25% Section 232 tariff has applied to imported vanities and cabinets since October 2025. The scheduled increase to 50% was postponed to January 2027, so rates hold at 25% through 2026.

We are a construction company, not a showroom
The showroom is where you choose materials. It is not the business.
Ward Design Center is a licensed general building contractor. We build room additions and ADUs, take on whole-home renovations, handle structural work, and run the job from design through to the final walkthrough with licensed trades for electrical and plumbing.
That matters for a bathroom, because the bathrooms that go wrong are the ones where somebody hit something structural and had to stop. When the wall comes down and there is a problem behind it, we are the people who can price it and fix it, not the people who have to call someone else and leave you waiting.
Licence CT-39936. Same licence, same crew, whether the job is one bathroom or a second storey.
