Bathroom Remodeling in Waipahu
Waipahu has some of the oldest housing stock on this side of the island and some of the fullest houses. Those two facts drive most of the bathroom work we do here — homes built for a different era, now holding more people than they were designed for. The work itself is our bathroom remodeling service.

When one bathroom is not enough
The most common request we get in Waipahu is not a nicer bathroom. It is another one.
Multi-generational households are normal here, and a house built with one bathroom does not stop being a one-bathroom house because three generations moved in. Adding a second is construction work — framing, drain lines, venting, sometimes a small addition — and it is exactly the kind of job a general contractor takes on rather than a remodeling outfit that stops at tile.
The same conversation often ends up at an ADU instead, if there is room on the lot. Worth asking about before committing to squeezing a bathroom into a hallway.
Plantation-era homes and what is behind the wall
A lot of Waipahu housing predates modern construction methods, and single-wall construction is common — the exterior boards form the wall, with no stud cavity behind them.
That changes the job. Plumbing that would normally run inside a wall has to be planned around. Heavy fittings need backing added rather than a stud that is not there. Tile needs a proper substrate.
Older homes also mean older plumbing. Galvanised supply lines corrode from the inside and give no warning until they are opened up. We would rather find that at the estimate than halfway through demolition, which is why we look properly before quoting. A tub-to-shower conversion in one of these homes is rarely as simple as it looks.
If your home is still on a cesspool
Some older Waipahu properties were never connected to city sewer.
State law now requires every cesspool in Hawaii to be replaced by 2050. Conversion typically runs $25,000 to $50,000. As of 2026 there is help available — the state put $2 million of Green Fee funds and Honolulu added $625,000 toward a low-interest loan and grant programme, and Oahu residents applying before 2030 may qualify for zero-percent loans.
If you are already opening up a bathroom, that is the right moment to understand where you stand. Doing the two jobs in the wrong order costs more than doing them together.
Waikele and the newer side
Not all of Waipahu is old. The Waikele side and the newer tracts are a different job — modern plumbing behind the wall, builder-grade finishes worth upgrading, and a scope that usually stays cosmetic and permit-exempt.

What a bathroom remodel costs in Waipahu
Small bathrooms generally run $18,000 to $25,000. Larger bathrooms run $25,000 to $40,000.
Those are full remodels including materials and labour — not a starting price with the fittings left out.
The spread comes down to four things: whether the plumbing moves, what is actually behind the wall once it is open, whether the job needs a permit, and the finishes you choose.
Older plantation-era homes sit higher in the range. Newer Waikele-side homes usually sit at the lower end.
One thing currently pushing material costs up island-wide: a 25% Section 232 tariff has applied to imported vanities and cabinets since October 2025. The scheduled increase to 50% was postponed to January 2027, so rates hold at 25% through 2026.
